Improving Youth Mental Health through Corporate Partnership

Did you know that for young people aged 10–24, mental health disorders now account for a whopping 45% of the overall disease burden, or that 1 in 5 young people have a diagnosed mental health condition?

At Blue Spirit we provide a refuge to young people through time spent sailing in blue spaces. This is time out from their stressful lives and a way to alleviate anxiety and depression. There is a wealth of research to suggest that just being in blue space leads to increased wellbeing, and that learning to sail helps people gain resilience and learn valuable skills – which in turn leads to increased self-esteem and happiness. Many young people find the experience life changing. You can read about our impact here.

This year (2026) we are planning sailing activities for around 180 young people.

Could your company help us achieve our goal?

Why partner with Blue Spirit?

We know that running a successful business isn't easy.  It seems like every day there are new hoops to jump through and more money to pay out. So why would you help us out?

Research shows that supporting a local charity is good for business. Here are just a few potential benefits from supporting Blue Spirit:

Improved Brand Image

    • Supporting us could enhance your company’s reputation and appeal to consumers who value corporate responsibility.

    • We will be delighted to shout your support from the rooftops.

Employee Satisfaction

    • Your employees will feel more satisfied and motivated knowing that you support a good cause.

    • We may be able to offer opportunities for volunteering for your employees.

Community Relations

    • Showing you care about local issues leads to increased customer loyalty.

    • For companies tendering for work with local authorities, being able to prove local benefit is crucial.

Tax Benefits

    • Donations to charities can often be tax-deductible, providing financial benefits to the company.

Networking Opportunities

    • Involvement in charitable activities can open up new networking opportunities with other businesses and community leaders

And …

Shaping the workforce of the future

    • According to Indeed, employers are looking for skills such as communication, team work and problem-solving in the young people they employ.  You can see from the word cloud that the young people who have undergone sail training develop these skills, as well as feeling more confident and resilient.

How you could make a real difference

Corporate Donations & Sponsorships

We would be delighted if you would support us by pledging an annual/monthly amount so that we can budget and plan our activities. We will add you to our partners page, displaying your logo and a link to your website - everyone who works with us will get to know you.

The community groups we work with rarely have money to pay for, or even contribute to, the activities we organise for them. These are groups working with the most disadvantaged young people – arguably the young people who need our services the most. In fact, many of these groups would never have dreamed that they could offer this kind of life changing experience to their young people.

To help us become more sustainable, we are looking to build up regular sponsors who would support us to spread the happiness.

  • £1600 pays for 16 young people to attend an activity day on Derwent Water

  • £3600 pays for 12 young people on a weekend voyage in the North Sea

  • £7200 pays for 12 young people to do a 5-day voyage in the North Sea

Your company could help us support more young people.
